Layla Amer

Layla Amer, B.A. is a Legal Assistant at Powell Litigation. As a first point of contact for the firm, she guides clients through initial intake, manages consultations, and assists lawyers with administrative support on matters involving real estate disputes, business litigation, defamation, debt collection, and other civil disputes.

Layla has three years of experience in administrative legal support, including previous experience working for the Government of Canada. She brings strong communication skills and attention to detail to her day-to-day work while preparing for law school.

Layla graduated with distinction from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Public Policy. She provides assistance in English, Urdu, and Punjabi and can read and write Arabic.

Outside the office, Layla enjoys spending time with her family, especially her young niece. She enjoys playing and watching basketball, reading, and going to the movies. A longtime film enthusiast, Layla also spent two years working at Cineplex.
